Passion: Take This Life and Love It

Experts spend a lot of time attempting to figure out what makes people successful. They often look at people’s credentials, intelligence, education, and various factors. But more than anything else, passion makes the difference. David Sarnoff of RCA days stated that no one can be successful unless he loves his work.

If you look at successful leaders today you will find they di not fit the stereotypical mold. 50% of CEO’s of the Fortune 500 companies had a C or C- average grade in college; 75% of Presidents were in the bottom half of their High School; 50% of millionaire entrepreneurs never finished college.

Consider these four truths about passion!

Passion Is The First Step to Achievement

Your desire determines your destiny. Thinks about some great leaders and you will be struck by their passion – Winston Churchill, Bill Gates, Martin Luther King Jr, and others that we could name.

Passion Increases Your Willpower

There is no substitute for passion. It is the fuel for the will. If you want something badly enough, you will find the willpower to achieve it. The only way to have that kind of passion is to develop it.

Passion Changes You

If you follow your passions instead of others perception’s, you can’t help becoming a more dedicated, productive person. This increases your ability to impact others. In the end your passion will have more influence than your personality

Passion Makes The Impossible Possible

Human beings are so made that whenever anything fires the soul, impossibilities vanish. A heart on fire lifts everything in your life. This is why passionate leaders are so effective. A leader with great passion and few skills always out performs a leader with great skills and no passion.

Sociologist Tony Campolo once observed that we are caught up at a particular stage in our national ethos in which we are not only materialistic but worse, we are becoming emotionally dead as people. We don’t sing, we don’t dance, in fact we don’t commit sin with much enthusiasm.

If increasing your level of passion is important to you try the following…

Take your temperature – How passionate about life and work are you? Does it show? Is it measurable if we asked your spouse or co-workers about your level of desire.

Return to your first love – Many people allow circumstances to get them off track. Think back in your life to a time when you were absolutely excited about life and job. Think back to a time when when you could spend hours and hours doing what you loved – can you duplicate that again in your life? Elevate your life to those high moments.

Associate with people who are passionate – Birds of a feather flock together. If you have lost your fire get around some firelighters – people of passion. Passion is contagious! Schedule time with people who can infect you with passion.
